FORT COLLINS, Colo. — UC Davis volleyball saw senior Mia Starr surpass 3,000 career assists, but her 26 assist night wouldn't be enough as the Aggies would fall 0-3 to Colorado State on Friday, Aug. 28.

FIRST SERVE

• Starr's 3,000 assists makes her just the sixth player in program history to surpass that mark.
• Ally Chandler led the offense with eight kills, five of which came in the first set.
• Ximena Cordero Barr picked up where she left off last season with 15 digs.
• The freshmen were on display throughout the night, with Gianna Bogan collecting her first seven collegiate kills and Isabella Umpierre picking up two kills, one dig, and one service ace.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Breeze Czapinski got the first kill of the season to open the match, collecting her first of six on the night.
• As both teams traded blows into the halfway point of set one, Davis took advantage of Rams errors for a 4-0 run capitalized by three Chandler kills.
• Bogan got her first kill a few points later, but both clubs continued battling back and forth.
• Down 20-22, the Aggies saw Bogan get another kill to put them within one. But a rally of three straight from CSU gave them a 25-21 set one victory.
• Set two began similarly to the first, with both teams going blow for blow and Davis taking advantage of Rams mistakes.
• However, Colorado State began to pull away with a 10-3 run halfway through the period to put them up by as much as 10.
• Late kills by Demi Cole and Brooke Hibino threatened to cut into the lead, but the home team claimed the second set 25-16.
• Coming back out after a five minute intermission, the Aggies found some footing by opening on three straight points with kills coming from Umpierre and Bogan.
• Up 7-5, Davis saw Colorado State rattle off six straight points to retake an 11-7 advantage. 
• As the road team battled back within one, the Rams ran off a 10-1 run to put them up double-digits into the last part of the set.
• Chandler and Czapinski collected a pair of kills late, but Colorado State would ultimately claim set three 25-16, giving the team a 3-0 win.

UP NEXT: Davis will stay in the Rocky Mountains when they head over to Greeley on Saturday, Aug. 29 to face off against Northern Colorado. First serve is 5:00 pm PT and the match will be livestreamed on ESPN+.
