DAVIS, Calif. — A sensational two-goal performance from
Morgan Caldera culminated in a walk-off overtime tally, driving UC Davis field hockey to a thrilling 2-1 victory over Central Michigan in Friday's season opener at the Aggie Field Hockey Facility.

- Morgan Caldera supplied all the firepower for the Aggies, netting both goals on the day to seal the match in extra time.
- UC Davis begins the 2026 season 1-0 with a win at home.
- Goalkeeper Allie Collingwood anchored the defense with three key saves throughout regulation to keep the Chippewas contained.
- Ella Franken and Liselotte Liljenstrand-Mjoen each put shots on the cage to lead the offense.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Central Michigan applied early pressure in the opening quarter with four shots, but Collingwood stood tall with two crucial saves to keep the match scoreless.
- UC Davis struck first as time expired in the second quarter when Caldera buried an unassisted goal at the 30:00 mark to carry a 1-0 lead into the break.
- Central Michigan found the equalizer early in the second half as Catelyn Ryon finished a setup from Chloe Pluciennik at 31:39 to level the match at 1-1.
- Despite continuous pressure and multiple penalty corners generated by the Aggies in the second half, the game remained tied through the end of regulation.
- Just 73 seconds into the 7-v-7 overtime period, Caldera put the game away at 61:13, firing home the game-winner to lift the Aggies to victory.
