DAVIS, Calif. — Less than a week from kickoff in Portland State, UC Davis football defensive player Sam Goligoski has been listed as the nation's 11th best returning defensive end by HERO Sports.

Playing all across the field as a linebacker and on the edge in 2025, Goligoski started in all 13 games while finishing the year with 33 total tackles and 6.5 sacks, ranking second on the team in sacks and fifth in the Big Sky in the category.

His best game last year came in Greeley against Northern Colorado on Oct. 25, where he finished with a career-high seven tackles, including three tackles for loss, while adding two sacks to his total.

The Aggies 2026 season begins this Saturday, Aug. 29, when they make the trip north to face Portland State. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. PT and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
