DAVIS, Calif. — Six UC Davis football standouts have earned 2026 FCS Football Central Preseason All-America honors, tying South Dakota State for the second-most selections among all FCS programs.
Samuel Gbatu Jr., Porter Connors and Rex Connors were named to the First Team, while Jordan Fisher, Winston Williams and Drew Cofield earned Second Team recognition. The Aggies are one of 40 programs represented on this year's teams, which feature 83 student-athletes from 11 conferences.
First-Team Offense
WR – Samuel Gbatu Jr.
Gbatu earned Second Team All-America honors from FCS Football Central and the AFCA in 2025 after leading the Big Sky with 1,169 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. The First Team All-Big Sky selection ranked second nationally in receiving yards and recorded seven 100-yard games.
First-Team Defense
LB – Porter Connors
Connors returns after an injury limited him to four games in 2025. The 2024 Second Team All-Big Sky selection recorded 86 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions and a defensive touchdown during his last full season.
DB – Rex Connors
Connors is UC Davis' career tackles leader with 313 and also holds the program's single-season record with 74 solo tackles. He has earned All-America recognition from the Associated Press, AFCA, Stats Perform and FCS Football Central during his career.
Second-Team Offense
RB – Jordan Fisher
Fisher earned All-Big Sky honorable mention after rushing for 1,121 yards and eight touchdowns in 2025, ranking third in the conference and 13th nationally in rushing yards. He finished the season with 1,408 all-purpose yards and 11 total touchdowns.
TE – Winston Williams
Williams earned First Team All-Big Sky honors in 2024 after leading all conference tight ends with six touchdown receptions. He returns after an injury limited him to three starts in 2025.
Second-Team Defense
DB – Drew Cofield
Cofield earned FCS Football Central Freshman All-America and Second Team All-Big Sky honors after starting all 13 games at cornerback in 2025. His team-high 11 passes defended ranked third in the Big Sky and tied for eighth nationally.
