LEADING OFF
  • Sawai went all 11 frames in the first game, striking out four while allowing just one earned run and zero walks
  • Gia Felice led off the day with four hits, including a pair of go-ahead hits in the first game of the day, with the second being an eventual game winner
  • Keira Brady added a pair of hits and the lone double on the day for the Aggies
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE)
  • Brady got the Aggies on the board in the second with an RBI double down the left line that scored a hustling Rylee Reeves from second
  • But in the fifth Cal Poly tied things to make it 1-1, a score that would be carried into the ninth
  • In the ninth the Aggie took the lead when Felice singled up the middle scoring Vanessa Calvillo from second to put the Aggies up 2-1
  • Cal Poly responded in the bottom half of the ninth to tie things, but Sawai kept the winning run from crossing to give the Aggies another shot at retaking the lead
  • It took until the 11th, but Felice once again came up clutch when she smashed a single to center field that brought home Kaylin Phillips making it 3-2 Aggies
  • And after Sawai sat down the Mustangs in order wrapping up the bottom half of the 11th, the Aggies had secured another 10-plus inning victory with a 3-2 win in game one
