DAVIS, Calif. — Following a 2-2 weekend at last weekend's Cal Classic, UC Davis beach volleyball is set for its final weekend of regular season road action at the University of the Pacific from Apr. 11-12. Action begins on Saturday, Apr. 11 against San Jose State at 8:00 a.m. PT and Cal State Bakersfield at 10:00 a.m. PT before finishing up on Sunday, Apr. 12 versus host Pacific at 10:00 a.m. PT and Saint Mary's at 2:00 p.m. PT.

GAME NOTES

• Last Time Out: UC Davis enters the weekend 10-16 following wins against San Jose State at last week's Cal Classic hosted in Berkeley. The Aggies secured their first sweep of the season in Saturday's 5-0 win against the Spartans before gutting out a 3-2 victory the next day.
• First of Many: In the final competition of the opening weekend, the Aggies won 3-2 over Colorado Mesa for their first victory of the season. This victory was the first for new Aggies head coach Ari Homayun.
• Top Competitors: With 10 wins in the fourth flight and 12 overall victories on the season, duo Skye Smolinski and Kate O'Steen lead the team in total wins on the year.
• 2025 Recap: The Aggies are coming off an 18-17 season a year ago, falling to Hawai'i in five sets in the first round of Big West Tournament bracket play.
• 2026 Preseason Poll: Ahead of the season, the Aggies were picked to finish fourth in the Big West preseason coaches poll, receiving 20 points.

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS

• San Jose State is 7-12 on the season, going 0-4 at the Cal Classic last week.
• Pair Grace Baker and Kaia Fansheir hold the most wins for the Spartans with eight victories on the year, six in the third flight and two in the fourth.
• UC Davis is 10-1 all-time against San Jose State, beating the Spartans twice in last week's Cal Classic.
• Cal State Bakersfield is 9-18 coming into the weekend, last winning two at the Islander Classic hosted in Corpus Christi.
• Sisters Kendall and Vivi Kaelin continue to hold the Roadrunner lead in total wins with 16 on the season, including 10 in the third flight.
• UC Davis is 10-1 all-time against Cal State Bakersfield, winning 4-1 at the Big West Challenge earlier this season.
• Pacific is 3-19 on the year, losing to Concordia Irvine and San Francisco last Saturday.
• UC Davis is a perfect 8-0 all-time against the Tigers, winning 5-0 in the teams last matchup in 2024.
• Saint Mary's is 21-9 in 2026, beating CUI and Sacramento State across the Causeway last weekend.
• With her 26th win of the season, Hannah Glick becomes the new single-season wins record holder for the Gaels, achieving this mark with three different teammates and all in the fifth flight.
• UC Davis is 3-6 all-time against Saint Mary's, this will be the third time both teams have faced each other this season.

SEASON NOTES

• After an historic career with Hawai'i beach volleyball and becoming the all-time winningest coach at CSUN last season, Ari Homayun enters her first season as head coach for the Aggies in 2026.
• Joining her staff is former Redlands assistant coach Georgia Romine-Black, who spent three seasons with the Buccaneers, helping lead the team to the NAIA championships for the first time in program history in 2021.
• Despite the loss of all-conference player Kylie Miller, the Aggies bring back a number of contributors from last season, including Skye Smolinski, Kate O'Steen, and Kimi Waller.
• Coach Homayun has also recruited a solid class of freshman and transfers, including former Matador Morgan Gillinger, former Roadrunner Ella Erteltova, and freshmen Reagan Cook, Savannah White, Elle Black, and Kaitlynn Chastain.
• With UC Davis making the move to the West Coast Conference in 2027, this season marks its last in the Big West.
