UC Davis Football Hosts Inaugural Wine Tasting Fundraiser In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO — UC Davis football head coach Tim Plough and the Aggie football program hosted their inaugural Football Wine Tasting fundraiser Saturday evening in San Francisco, welcoming nearly 200 attendees for a night celebrating Aggie Football and raising support for the program's future.

The event featured nine wineries owned or operated by UC Davis alumni, including former football, track and field and Band-uh! alumni, creating a unique opportunity for the Aggie community to reconnect while showcasing world-class wines produced by fellow Aggies.

Designed as an opportunity to engage supporters across the Bay Area and beyond, the evening allowed Plough to share the vision and direction of the UC Davis football program while bringing together alumni, supporters and friends of the program.

"I couldn't be more thankful for Saturday's event," Plough said. "It shows that we have a large number of people with the same goal that I have. We want this program to continue to reach its full potential.

"To be able to raise more than $100,000 in one night is just the start. It's time to stop doing more with less and see what happens when we do more with more. These players deserve our support, and my commitment to this program is because of them. I know how hard they work and the goals they want to accomplish.

"Let's all work together to provide the best environment possible for them, and when that happens anything is possible."

The evening proved to be a major success in its first year, raising over $100,000 in support of the football program. The fundraiser represents the beginning of a long-term vision to grow the event into a cornerstone annual gathering for Aggie Football supporters, with the goal of eventually generating $1 million annually for the program.

Support for the event was made possible in part through the generosity of sponsors Kristen and Brian Andersen, Dillard Construction Group and Heyworth Government Affairs.

Fans will have their next opportunity to see the Aggies this spring when UC Davis hosts its annual Spring Game on April 18 at UC Davis Health Stadium at 10:15 a.m. PT.
