Equestrian: Anna Donovan and Lizzy Schulz Earn ECAC Monthly Accolades

DAVIS, Calif. — Following a standout month of February in which UC Davis equestrian went undefeated in dual-meet action, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has recognized sophomore Anna Donovan as the Rider of the Month for Fences and third-year Lizzy Schulz as the Standout Student-Athlete of the Month.

Donovan was a cornerstone for the Aggies' Jumping Seat squad throughout February, going undefeated in Fences across two key matchups. She opened the month in dominant fashion against Minnesota Crookston, delivering a massive 86 aboard Camelot to claim the event-high score and help secure a perfect 5-0 event sweep for UC Davis. She continued her stellar form against South Dakota State, again posting the event-high score with an 84 to secure the first point of the meet and earn MOP honors. Averaging an elite 85-point score with an MOP under her belt, Donovan's polished performance played a vital role in the Aggies' undefeated month.

Schulz, a third-year Managerial Economics major, earned the conference's monthly academic honor for her excellence in leadership, service, and team commitment. As the Reining squad's Horse Care Captain, Schulz manages the health and well-being of the program's equine athletes with maturity and strong organizational skills. Her unique role within the program sees her supporting both the English and Western squads, reflecting a deep foundation built from 14 years of riding experience.

Beyond the arena, Schulz maintains a strong GPA while volunteering at the Yolo County Animal Shelter and contributing to Team Robby—a charity formed in her brother's memory that raises scholarship funds to support students with autism. She also volunteers with hippotherapy programs, pairing her passion for helping others with her connection to horses. With aspirations to pursue a master's degree in accounting and work in agricultural finance, Schulz embodies the ECAC's core values of integrity, academic excellence, and community involvement.

UP NEXT: The Aggies return home to host UT Martin for Senior Day in an ECAC matchup on Saturday, March 7. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. PT as the two teams face off for the second time this season ahead of the ECAC Championships.
