Davis, Calif. – UC Davis Men's Tennis (8-8) secured a 6-1 victory over UC Riverside (2-18). The team won five of the six singles matches and claimed the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles positions.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UC Davis claimed the doubles point with victories on courts two and one. Lucas Bollinger and Kurt Miller opened with a decisive 6-0 win over Andrew Lavine and Jovan Pedroza at No. 2 doubles. Ivan Savkin and Dylan Paterson followed up with a 6-4 win against Lucas I. Suarez and Lucas Mszyca on court one. The match on court three, featuring Perry DiGiulio and Kaveh Taheri, ended 4-3 in favor of UC Riverside's Owen Pearson and Ivaylo Simeonov, but the doubles point had been secured for the Aggies.
In singles play, UC Davis dominated, securing five out of six matches. Bollinger led the charge at No. 1 singles with a straight-set victory over Suarez, 6-0, 6-2. Kaveh Taheri added another point at No. 2 singles, defeating Lavine 6-2, 6-2. Savkin continued the streak on court three, outplaying Pearson 6-2, 6-4.
Nadaul Cheam contributed to the winning effort at No. 4 singles, securing a 6-3, 6-2 win over Mszyca. Eduardo Gonzalez clinched the match for UC Davis at No. 5 singles with a come-from-behind win against Simeonov, 1-6, 7-5, 11-9. Riverside's sole singles victory came at No. 6 singles, where Michael Chang defeated Miller in a three-set match, 6-3, 6-7, 5-0.
