DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis men's basketball redshirt freshman Marcus Wilson earned Big West Player of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Wilson was spectacular for the Aggies in a crucial 2-0 week, pouring in a career-high 24 points in back-to-back victories to lift UC Davis in the Big West standings.

Wilson opened the week by leading the way in an 85-75 victory over rival UC Santa Barbara on Thursday night. He controlled the game against the Gauchos with a career-high 24 points on an efficient 8-of-14 shooting performance, including a perfect 7-of-7 from the free-throw line. His impact went beyond scoring, as he filled the stat sheet with six rebounds and six assists in 28 minutes of action.

In Saturday's win over Cal Poly, Wilson again provided the steady hand, matching his career-high with 24 points to lead the Aggies to a 67-58 victory. In a game defined by defensive intensity, Wilson shot 8-of-16 from the field and was a reliable 7-of-8 from the charity stripe. When the Aggies trailed in the second half, Wilson helped ignite an 11-0 run that erased the deficit and flipped the game for good.

For the week, Wilson averaged 24.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists while shooting 53.3 percent from the floor and 93.3 percent from the free-throw line.

The redshirt freshman and the rest of his UC Davis teammates are back in action this Thursday, Feb. 12, when they travel to face UC San Diego. The Aggies then return to the University Credit Union Center to host Long Beach State on Saturday, Feb. 14.
