HOW IT HAPPENED

- UC Davis got on the base paths by showing patience and presence at the plate, coupling a pair of hits with one walk and two hit by pitches to quickly jump ahead 2-0
- Seattle scored it's one run in the game, when Sawai gave up a home run in the bottom half of the inning, but that would be the only damage Seattle would muster
- Following the home run, Sawai struck out the side, setting the tone for the next five fames she would throw
- Baldwin's two RBI triple in the third, that scored Rylee Reeves and Kaylin Phillips, padded the Aggie lead midway through the action and after three frames the Ags were up 5-1
- Over the final four frames, Sawai would allow just two more base runners in her last three innings of work and in the seventh Ellena Ediss came in to put the finishing touches on the UC Davis opening victoryÂ
