FRESNO, Calif. — Anna Donovan and
Lauren Kolbe each earned their second MOP honor of the week with standout performances in Flat and Fences, but despite the Aggies' grit, UC Davis equestrian fell to Fresno State, 13–6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lauren Kolbe opened the meet in Fences, securing the Aggies' first point with an outstanding 85 aboard Jewel and earning MOP honors after posting the highest score of the event.
Anna Donovan followed with a solid 82 on Wasco to add a second point for UC Davis. Freshman
Cavan Smith closed the event with a competitive 77 aboard Grayson, finishing just one point shy of her opponent. Despite the Aggies' impressive rides, Fresno State narrowly took the event, 3–2.
In Horsemanship,
Katya Dundas led the Aggies with a 74 aboard Blue, falling just 1.5 points short of the win. Junior
Kylie Jacobson followed with a steady 73.5 on Parker, earning a tying score against her opponent to prevent a sweep.
The Aggies found momentum in Flat behind Donovan's standout ride. The sophomore earned the first point of the event with an impressive 82 aboard Santo, beating her opponent by an outstanding 10 points to post the highest score of the event and securing herself MOP honors. Kolbe added a second point for UC Davis with a 77 aboard Firewall, but Fresno State edged the event 3–2.
UC Davis closed the meet in Reining with several hard-fought rides. Senior Mya Calder earned the Aggies' lone point of the event with a 74 aboard Fabio, the highest score in the event.
Nicole Shroyer followed with a 71 on JD to earn a tie, while sophomore
Ada Hirschfeld posted a 73 aboard CJ, missing the point by just half a point. Fresno State secured the final event to seal the 13–6 decision.
UP NEXT: The Aggies will host their first home meet of the spring season on Saturday, Feb. 6, to compete against Minnesota Crookston at 10:00 a.m.
