FORT WORTH, Texas — No. 7 UC Davis equestrian continued competition in Texas today, taking on No. 8 TCU. Despite multiple tightly contested rides and several tying scores, the Aggies fell to the Horned Frogs, 14–4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UC Davis showed early competitiveness in Fences, highlighted by several closely contested rides. Freshman
Lily Grosz recorded the top score for the Aggies with an 83 aboard Callisto. Junior
Lauren Kolbe delivered UC Davis' lone point of the event, earning a 74 on Reign and defeating her opponent by six points. Sophomore
Anna Donovan added an 80 aboard Caddy, finishing just two points behind her opponent.
Horsemanship proved to be another tightly contested event for the Aggies. Sophomore
Eliza Plum earned a tying score with a 73 aboard Snoop Dog, while sophomore
Ada Hirschfeld narrowly missed the point after posting a 73.5 on Champ, falling just half a point short.
The Aggies found their strongest success in Jumping Seat, led by an outstanding Flat performance from Donovan. Riding Stryker, Donovan posted an 86 — the highest score of the event — to secure a win by a whopping 16 points over her opponent, earning MOP honors for her ride. Freshman
Cavan Smith followed with an 82 aboard Lina to add a second point for UC Davis, though the Aggies ultimately dropped the event 3–2.
Closing the meet in Reining, Hirschfeld earned a tying score with a 71 aboard Roxie, while junior
Mylea Trimble claimed UC Davis' lone point of the event after earning the highest score aboard Player, also receiving MOP honors for her ride. Senior
Mya Clader capped the meet with a 69.5, narrowly missing the win by half a point.
UP NEXT: The Aggies head back to California to face Fresno State on Saturday, Jan. 31, with competition beginning at 10 a.m.
