DAVIS, Calif. — For the first time in her career, UC Davis women's water polo's Gianna Nocetti has been honored with the Big West Player of the Week award. 

This recognition comes after a strong weekend against three nationally ranked opponents. Nocetti led No. 16 UC Davis to an 11–8 upset victory over No. 12 San Jose State on Saturday, scoring four goals on six shots for a .667 shooting percentage while winning three sprints to post a .750 sprint percentage.

Against No. 9 Fresno State on Sunday, the senior continued to make an impact on both ends, recording two goals on four shots and again winning three sprints for a .750 sprint percentage as the Aggies battled the Bulldogs.

On the season, Nocetti has totaled 13 goals and seven assists with a .619 shooting percentage and is 12–5 in sprints for a .706 sprint percentage. She ranks seventh in the Big West in goals, fifth in points, second in both sprints won and sprint percentage, and seventh in points per game, while ranking fifth nationally in both sprint wins and sprint percentage.

UP NEXT: 
The Aggies will compete at the Triton Invitational this weekend, hosted by UC San Diego. UC Davis will open play on Friday, Jan. 30, against the host Tritons at 5:20 p.m. PT. Subsequent matchups will be determined by tournament advancement, with the invite concluding on Sunday, Feb. 1.
