THE SHORT STORY: UC Davis opened conference play with a 1-1 draw against defending Big West champions UC Santa Barbara. The Gauchos converted a 73rd-minute penalty, while the Aggies answered in the 86th when Sydney Bushman finished a service from Kylee Redman with a secondary assist to Ava Coverdale. Goalkeeper Cat Pieper delivered another strong performance in goal for the Aggies, finishing the night with seven saves.
