  • 38 assists and 10 digs from Mia Starr gives her a third double-double for the season.
  • An all-around defensive effort from the Aggies held UC Riverside to a hitting percentage of .071.
  • Tonight's win marks the third sweep of the year for the Aggies.
WHAT HEAD COACH DAN CONNERS HAD TO SAY

"Defensively, we had streaks where we were blocking and digging very well and made it very difficult for them to score points. Offensively, we got better as the match went on and really found our rhythm. Proud that we showed up, ready to perform in our first conference match on the road. Great win, solid performance. Go Ags!"

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Opening with the first two points of the match, the Aggies were led by back-to-back service aces from Light to give them a 9-6 lead early.
  • A 5-1 scoring run from the Highlanders put them ahead for the first time, 12-11, near the midpoint of the set.
  • But the Davis offense began to fire on all cylinders, with three kills from Ally Chandler helping lead her team to a 23-16 advantage.
  • UCR tried to get back into it with an ace from Makena Tong, but kills from Caldwell and Czapinski finished off the first 25-19.
  • Early in the second, the advantage belonged to Riverside, who took advantage of another 5-1 run to go up 10-5 at the onset of the frame.
  • Using points from their best attackers, the Aggies stayed within six, 11-17.
  • From there, the offense began to click once again, with seven of eight belonging to Davis to tie the set at 18 apiece.
  • A few points later, tied at 21, a kill from Brooke Hibino sparked her team to get within one, 24-21.
  • The Highlanders threatened with two quick points, but an error from the opponent ultimately gave Davis a 25-23 win and a 2-0 lead.
  • With the Aggies up 6-4 to start the third, as the Highlanders looked to stay in it, five straight kills from four separate players gave the road team a commanding 11-4 advantage.
  • From there, points from Chandler and Czapinski led the way for their team, who led by as much as 12 during the set.
  • A kill from Light ended things off for the Aggies, capping a 25-13 set win and another 3-0 sweep for Davis.
UP NEXT: The Aggies play their final match before opening home play this Saturday, Sept. 27 against the Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine. First serve is set for 10:00 p.m. PT and is live to watch on ESPN+.
