The short story: UC Davis men's water polo wrapped up the Overnght MPSF Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 21, in a loss to the UC San Diego Tritons. The Aggies finish the 16-team tournament in sixth place.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Opening the scoring for the day was Andrew Hitchcock, whose score sparked a four-goal first period.
- Andrew Bonelli, Brody Crouch, and Adam Ting would be the other Aggie goal scorers in the first, giving their team a 4-2 lead after eight minutes.
- In the second, four combined goals from Oleg Shatskikh and Thomas Marr paced the Aggie lead.Â
- The first of the day from Thomas Kiesling put the finishing touches on a nine goal first half from Davis, who ended period two up 9-5.
- After Kiesling found the back of the net again to start the third, the Tritons began to make a run, scoring six total goals in the last seven minutes of the period.
- Despite this, scores from Oriol Viñas kept Davis in the lead, 12-11.
- Tying the game three minutes into the fourth quarter, the defense from UC San Diego held the Aggies scoreless in the final frame, pulling out a 14-12 win.
UP NEXT: The Aggies return to Northern California next weekend, traveling to Santa Clara to take on the Broncos on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1:00 p.m. PT before coming home to face the USC Trojans on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 12:00 p.m. PT. Saturday's game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
