Three Aggies Sign Free Agent Deals; Teddye Buchanan Drafted By Ravens

DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis football graduate Teddye Buchanan became the first Aggie drafted by the National Football League since 2002, while Lan Larison, Miles Hastings and C.J. Hutton all signed undrafted free agent deals following the NFL Draft over this past weekend of April 24-26.

Evan Bearden (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) and Zach Kennedy (Denver Broncos) each received mini-camp invites with Bearden and Kennedy each fighting for spots June 10-12.

Buchanan went to the Baltimore Ravens with pick 129 in the fourth round and he becomes the first Aggie since J.T. O'Sullivan who went in the sixth round of the 2002 NFL Draft to the New Orleans Saints. He is the 18th Aggie taken all time, and the fourth-round selection is the earliest an Aggie has gone since Mike Wise went in the second round of the 1986 NFL Draft to the then-Los Angeles Raiders.

Larison, a 2024 Walter Payton Award finalist and nine-time All-American, almost immediately signed a deal with the New England Patriots following the conclusion of the draft, and he has already begun to make waves among the Patriot fan base and across New England. Larison will become the 36th Aggie all-time that will enter at least one summer camp officially on an NFL roster.

Hastings, who holds school records in career passing yards, single season passing yards and single season touchdown passes and is a three-time All-American, signed a free agent deal with Canadian Football League's Ottawa Redblacks. Hastings joins a long lineage of Aggie quarterbacks to play in the CFL, including current Calgary Stampeders quarterback Jake Maier when he goes north of the border.

Signing his deal a bit before the NFL Draft, Hutton joins the Edmonton Elks in the CFL where he will look to make an impact. Hutton total 1,894 receiving yards and snagged 11 receiving touchdowns in his career, while adding 452 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns for an all-around Aggie career.

Buchanan will become the first Aggie to suit up for the Ravens, while Larison will be the second Aggie all-time to be a part of the Patriots franchise.
