DAVIS, Calif. – In front of the Davis community and a great crowd of Aggies, UC Davis football wrapped up its spring practice with the annual Spring Game showcase, putting a finishing touch on a physical and competitive spring in Shredville.
Â
The Aggies took the field with the UC Davis Marching Band and kids running out of the tunnel to the Aggie fight song and ACDC's "Hell's Bells". From there they proceeded to put on a show, giving the Davis community a glimpse into how the reigning No. 5 team in the nation has been preparing for the upcoming season.
Â
"It was a really exciting day for the program as a whole," said head coach
Tim Plough. "We had our junior day, so it was great to see all of the families come out for that. It has been an emotional day for the staff to see Teddye [Buchanan] and Lan [Larison] achieve their dreams of making it to the NFL and it shows the development of our program.
Â
"To have the community come out and support the team, it felt like a real Davis game day and it was a really cool to see everyone out there. We got a lot done during the scrimmage, but today was really about celebrating the program and the Davis community."
Â
Early in the game, the Aggies excited the crowed when quarterback
Caden Pinnick hit a streaking
Samuel Gbatu, Jr., for roughly 80 yards to score a big play for the Aggie offense. But on the defensive side of the ball, there were moments for the Aggies in blue to shine as both sides battled for over two hours.
Â
In-between the scrimmages of football, fans had a chance to take part in different competitions to earn Aggie gear and showcase their own football talents. The UC Davis
Majorettes performed as well, along with the UC Davis Marching Band playing throughout the game.
Â
With spring football in their review mirror, the Aggies now turn their attention to the 2025 season. UC Davis will open the 2025 campaign on Aug. 23 in Montogomery, Alabama when they take on Mercer as part of the FCS Kickoff Classic. The Aggies open UC Davis Health Stadium on Sept. 20 when they welcome Southern Utah and they begin Big Sky Conference play on Sept. 27 when Weber State visits Davis.
