The short story: UC Davis softball dropped its game against Fresno State in the final midweek and non-conference match up of its regular season under clear skies at La Rue Field.
Â
LEADING OFF
- Alyssa Dethlefson threw 6.1 innings, giving up just one walk, while at the dish she recorded a base hit and stole a base
- Grace Kilday went 1-for-3 and Gia Felice had a 1-for-2 day for the Aggie hits
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Fresno State scored three runs in the first and added one more in the second to open an early 4-0 lead
- From that point, Dethlefson locked in allowing just one more run over the next five frames pitching through traffic to keep the Aggies in the game
- Dethlefson led off the sixth with a walk, and after stealing second the Aggie all-around was poised to get the Ags on the board
- On a ground out, Dethlefson forced a throw to third and when that bounced in the dirt she got up and scampered home to score the first run of the game for UC Davis
- In the seventh, Fresno State added one more to make it 5-1 and the Bulldogs would hold that lead in the bottom half to take the game.
UP NEXT FOR THE AGGIES: UC Davis hits the road for its final Big West weekend when they visit UC Santa Barbars for an April 26-27 series.
