The short story: After dealing with inclement weather the past two days, UC Davis finally returned to action, ultimately dropping both games of Sunday's doubleheader against Creighton.

FIRST PITCH (GAME ONE)
  • Korey Williams went 1-for-3 with two RBI to lead UC Davis offensively in the first game
  • Bryan Green delivered a strong start on the mound for the Aggies, pitching four innings and allowing just one run on three hits
  • Green issued just one walk and struck out three
  • UC Davis' biggest offensive inning came in the fifth, when they pushed across two runs
  • The Aggies went 3-for-10 (.300) with runners in scoring position but struggled to contain Creighton's late-game surge
  • UC Davis pitchers faced 37 Creighton batters, inducing nine groundouts and eight flyouts while recording five strikeouts
  • Creighton's offense was powered by Nate McHugh, who went 1-for-3 with a home run and six RBI
  • Matthew Aukerman anchored the Bluejays' pitching staff, throwing 3.2 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win

FIRST PITCH (GAME TWO)
  • Reigning Big West Field Player of the Week Braydon Wooldridge collected two hits in the second game, but UC Davis was shut out by a combined effort from four Creighton pitchers
  • Wooldridge finished the day 3-for-8 across both games, going 2-for-4 in the second game after a 1-for-4 performance in the opener
  • Noel Valdez started on the mound for UC Davis, tossing four innings, allowing one run on one hit, while collecting four punchouts
  • Max Hippensteel provided a solid relief appearance, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings while allowing one hit and striking out two
  • UC Davis pitchers held Creighton to 2-for-11 (.182) with runners in scoring position and struck out 11 batters over 34 plate appearances
  • Creighton's offense was led by Nolan Sailors, who went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI
  • Shane Curtin headlined the Bluejays' pitching staff, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings in relief

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE)
  • The Aggies struck first, scoring in the third inning on an RBI single by Williams that drove in Mark Wolbert from third base
  • After Creighton tied the game at 1-1, UC Davis regained the lead in the fifth inning, plating two runs to take a 3-1 advantage
  • However, the lead would not hold with Creighton exploding for eight runs over the final four innings, including a six-run seventh inning, to secure a 9-3 victory

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME TWO)
  • The Aggies' offense struggled to find consistency in the second game, as Creighton took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning
  • UC Davis didn't threaten until the fourth inning, when they advanced a runner into scoring position for the first time
  • While the Aggies' pitching staff kept Creighton's offense in check for most of the game, allowing just one run through five innings, the Bluejays broke through in the sixth
  • Sailors launched a solo home run to right field, extending Creighton's lead to 2-0
  • Creighton added two more runs in the seventh inning, providing enough insurance to secure a 4-0 victory and complete the doubleheader sweep

UP NEXT: UC Davis enters next weekend with an 8-7 record and will host UC Riverside for their first Big West series of the season. The three-game set is scheduled to begin on Friday, March 14, at 6 p.m. PT at Dobbins Stadium.
