The short story: UC Davis softball wrapped up its Big West weekend against Long Beach State by dropping the series finale at La Rue Field.

LEADING OFF
- Caroline Grimes gave the Aggies 5.2 of relief, giving up just two runs while striking out five batters
- Alyssa Dethlefson provided a hit and scored a run, smashing a triple for and Aggie extra base hit
- Mickey Buscemi and Rylee Reeves each added a hit to the Aggie mix, with Reeves drawing a walk to reach base twice in the game
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Long Beach State scored four times over the first two opening frames, taking a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the second inning
- In that second inning, the Aggies got back on the board when Dethlefson smacked a one out triple to right field
- Reeves knocked in Dethlefson with an RBI ground out in the next at bat to get UC Davis on the board with the score at 4-1
- Unfortunately for the Aggies, despite Grimes coming in to provide lock down relief, they could not score any more runs in the game and with a run in the third and fourth Long Beach State built out its eventual 6-1 winning score
UP NEXT FOR THE AGGIES: UC Davis heads to Saint Mary's on Tues., April 1 for a midweek game before returning to Big West play over the weekend with a trip to CSUN set to run April 4-5.
