Losing Pitcher: Alyssa Dethlefson (0-3)
Records: UC Davis 11-24, Saint Mary's 17-15
Location: Davis, Calif. (La Rue Field)
The short story: Despite
Alyssa Dethlefson holding Saint Mary's scoreless over the final five frames, UC Davis softball dropped its midweek game to the Gaels at La Rue Field.
LEADING OFF
- Mickey Buscemi led off for the Aggies, going 2-for-4 at the top
- Gia Felice recorded a pair of stolen bases, while adding one hit to the mix
- Dethlefson went the full seven, allowing just one earned run on an efficient 82 pitches
- The game was originally scheduled to be played at Saint Mary's, but due to weather and field concerns at Cottrell Field the game was moved to Davis
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Saint Mary's scored its two runs in the second inning, getting back-to-back doubles with one out to take a 2-0 lead
- Dethlefson then locked in, and with the help of a pair of double plays turned by the Aggie infield, made sure that Saint Mary's kept the bases clear over the final five innings
- But the Aggies, despite getting runners on base in every inning except the seventh, could not score any runs against Saint Mary's pitching eventually falling 2-0 in the midweek matchup
UP NEXT FOR THE AGGIES: UC Davis returns to Big West play over the weekend with a trip to CSUN set to run April 4-5.
