The short story: UC Davis women's tennis fought hard on the road against CSUN, but despite their best efforts, they were unable to overcome the tough competition, ultimately falling 2-5 as CSUN dominated in singles play. 

COURTSIDE 

• The Matadors took the early lead, grabbing the doubles point. 

• Graduate student Solia Valentine won her singles match in two sets.

• Freshman Polina Marakhtanova won her singles match in two sets. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Aggies opened up the morning with doubles, where Solia Valentine and Polina Marakhtanova finished first, falling to their Matador opponents.  

• Next to finish was the pair of Claire Galerkin and Kaia Wolfe, who were the only Aggie pair to win a doubles match. 

• Last to finish in doubles was  Daisy Maunupau and Mika Ikemori, who lost their match against their CSUN opponents. 

• Onto singles, the first to finish was Valentine, who took down her opponent in two dominating sets making the score even at 1-1. 

• The next Aggie to get a win was freshman Marakhtanova, who clinched another point for the Ags putting them up 2-1. 

• First to fall was junior Wolfe, who took her match to three sets but could not come out with a win. 

• Senior Maunupau would fall next as her match also went to three sets, but could not come out with a win. 

• With two more matches left and the Ags being down 3-2, Ikemori and Maya Youssef had to win their matches to clinch. 

• Junior Youssef and Ikemori fell to their Matador opponents after three grueling sets. 

• The Ags, unfortunately, lost the dual match 2-5.
