The short story: Alyssa Dethlefson threw over two innings of scoreless relief, but UC Davis softball dropped its first game of the day to Nevada in a close contest at La Rue Field.
Â
LEADING OFF
- Dethlefson, who started the game in right field, threw 2.1 innings of relief, giving up just three hits and no walks
- Marley Panziera provided the Aggies with a double and a run scored
- Rylee Reeves added one hit, scoring one run
- Mickey Buscemi and Gia Felice each added one hit to the Aggie mix
- Caroline Grimes made the start giving up two earned runs while going 4.2 innings
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first and second innings, Nevada scored four of its five runs. The big blow coming on a two-run home run in the second that made it 4-0 early in the game
- The Ags would only give up one more run over the next five frames as they settled into the game
- In the fifth, the UC Davis got on the board with two runs, getting started with a Reeves single to left
- With two outs, Panziera doubled home Reeves from first to make it 4-1
- Felice then singles through the right side, scoring Panziera to get the Ags within 4-2
- Nevada added one more in the sixth to make it 5-2 and despite the Aggies fight, UC Davis could not find any more runs over the final two innings to fall to Nevada
