Ashley Sawai was lights out, powering UC Davis softball to its second-straight win to open the season, with a complete game shutout helping the Aggies to a 3-0 win over San Jose State.

LEADING OFF
- This was Sawai's first complete game shutout of her career
- Sawai's final line was impressive, finishing with 7.0 innings pitched, two hits, zero runs allowed, eight strikeouts and most impressively, no walks allowed
- Marley Panziera led the Aggies in RBIs having two
- Mickey Buscemi led the power for UC Davis with a triple, joining Panziera who smacked a double
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In four of the seven innings that Sawai tossed, the Aggie pitcher faced just three batters, and it wasn't until the third inning that San Jose State got a runner on base
- UC Davis got on the board and took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Buscemi smashed a one-out triple to left center.
- Olivia McFarland then knocked in Buscemi when she reached on a fielder's choice to open the Aggie scoring
- The Aggies added another run when Panzeria hit a sac fly that score Venessa Calvillo, who had pinch run for McFarland
- Panzeria doubled in Bri Weekes, who had pinch hit for Sydney Polli, in the sixth inning to extend the Aggie lead
- Sawai then shut down the Spartans in the seventh to lock up the Aggie 3-0 victory
