LEADING OFF
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Colorado State took the lead early on a home run to center field in the second inning, making it 1-0
- In the fourth, the Aggies had a response, scoring three runs all with two outs
- Polli scored Brady with a single, before Reeves smashed an RBI double to right center
- Panziera then took a 1-1 pitch into right field for a triple that scored Reeves to make it 3-1 after four
- Three runs in the fifth from Colorado State put the Rams back in front 4-3
- An RBI single in the sixth pushed Colorado State's lead to 5-3 heading into the final six Aggie outs
- In the sixth UC Davis got one back, when Gia Felice reached on a fielder's choice that scored Poli to make it 5-4
- With two outs in the seventh and their backs against the wall, the Aggies again came up clutch
- Reeves slapped a single up the middle that scored Dethlefson on a 1-2 pitch, tying the game at 5-5 and forcing extra innings
- Unfortunately for UC Davis, Colorado State would score three runs in the top of the eighth, and despite the Ags scoring a run in the bottom half of the inning, Colorado State finished off an 8-6 win.
UP NEXT FOR THE AGGIES: The Aggies return closer to home in the next game, heading to Sacramento State for a midweek game on Feb. 26.
