Aggies Make Statement in First Meet Back at Schaal Aquatics Center

The short story: UC Davis delivered a dominant home performance against New Mexico, winning 15 of 16 events as the Aggies showcased depth across swimming and diving, highlighted by multiple event sweeps and top finishes on the boards.

POOL SIDE

  • UC Davis opened the meet with a sweep of the 200-meter medley relay, finishing first and second.

  • The Aggies controlled the distance events, finishing 1–2 in the 800-meter freestyle and sweeping the 400-meter freestyle.

  • UC Davis swept the podium in the 200-meter freestyle, 200-meter butterfly, and 50-meter freestyle.

  • The Aggies earned multiple diving victories, including wins on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.

  • UC Davis capped the meet by placing multiple swimmers in the final relay to close out the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • UC Davis set the tone early by claiming the top two spots in the 200-meter medley relay to open the meet.

  • The Aggies dominated the distance events, with Ezmee Jones and Ayanna Thompson finishing first and second in the 800-meter freestyle before sweeping the top three places in the 400-meter freestyle later in the meet.

  • Sprint success followed as UC Davis swept the 50-meter freestyle and tied for first in the 100-meter freestyle, continuing to build momentum.

  • In stroke events, UC Davis earned victories in the 100-meter backstroke, 100-meter breaststroke, 200-meter breaststroke, and 200-meter backstroke.

  • The butterfly events proved especially strong, as UC Davis swept the 200-meter fly and later finished 1–2–3 in the 100-meter fly.

  • On the boards, Mackenzie Young and Katherine Lim led the way, with Young winning the 3-meter event and Lim capturing first on the 1-meter to secure valuable points.

  • UC Davis finished the meet with multiple swimmers competing in the final relay, closing out a comprehensive team win.
