Aggies Dominate Road Meets Over Delaware State and UT Martin

DOVER, Del. – UC Davis equestrian continued their strong fall campaign on Friday, Nov. 7, picking up two victories on the road to complete a successful doubleheader in Delaware. The Aggies topped Delaware State, 11-8, before closing the day with a 10-4 win over UT Martin.

HOW IT HAPPENED – DELAWARE STATE:
UC Davis opened the day with momentum in Fences. Sophomore Chloe Fares led off with an 82 aboard Cici, securing the first point of the event and setting the tone for the Aggies. Freshman Cavan Smith followed with an 85 aboard Elton to extend the lead, while sophomore Anna Donovan delivered the standout performance of the event, earning an 87 on Sandaro to secure both the point and MOP honors. Sophomore Carmen Gonzalez added the last point with an 81 on Todd, giving the Aggies an early 4-1 advantage.
 
In Flat, both Donovan on Dude and Gonzalez on Cali earned their second points of the day, posting the same score of 80. Freshman Amanda Paul scored an 87 aboard Style, collecting the highest score of the event as well as MOP honors. Smith capped another strong ride, picking up an 84 on Cooper and beating her opponent by 21 points to help take the event, 4-1.

The Aggies added key points in the Western arena to secure the win. In Horsemanship, sophomore Eliza Plum scored a 66.5 on Cinch while senior Katya Dundas wrapped up the event with a 75 on Ellie Mae, the highest score of the event, locking in two more points for the team. Senior Mya Clader picked up the lone point and highest score in Reining with a 65 aboard Aspen.
 
UC Davis closed out the first meet of the day with an 11-8 victory over the Hornets, marking their first road win of the season.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – UT MARTIN:
Smith continued her standout day, posting a 78 aboard Westin to claim the first point in Fences. Fares followed with an impressive ride and the highest score of the event, delivering an 86 on Salty to earn herself MOP honors and contribute to a 2-1 event win.
 
Donovan once again delivered in Flat, posting an 83 aboard Peter. Smith followed with an 86 on Cooper, beating her opponent out by another large margin of 18 points and claiming MOP honors for her ride. Sophomore Zadie Stack added a point with a 76 on Westin, sealing the event 3-1, and extending UC Davis's lead.
 
Plum opened Horsemanship with a compelling ride on Brady, scoring a 75 and earning MOP honors for the event. Sophomore Ada Hirschfeld followed with a ride of 75 aboard Delta, notching another key point. Junior Kylie Jacobson wrapped up the event with a season best 76.5 on Wally, a performance that earned her a spot in the UC Davis individual record book, helping secure a 3-0 sweep in the event.
 
In Reining, Clader continued her hot streak, capturing MOP honors and another point with a 70.5 aboard Delta, marking her sixth winning ride of the season. Senior Nicole Shroyer added another point with a 68.5 riding Baby to round out the 10-4 team victory over the Skyhawks and complete a perfect 2-0 weekend in Delaware.
 
UP NEXT:
The Ags will be back at home on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 9:00 a.m. to face Oklahoma State.
