The short story: UC Davis closed out Day 4 of the UTU Trailblazer Invite with a podium finish from Elena Gingras in the 1650-yard freestyle, a runner-up finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay, multiple top six swims, and two Zone-qualifying diving scores from Mackenzie Young and Katherine Lim.
POOL SIDE
- UC Davis earned second place in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:19.38).
- Elena Gingras finished third in the 1650-yard freestyle.
- Naomi Boegholm placed fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (49.72).
- Zoe Childers secured third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:00.20).
- Emily Scheberies added a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke.
- Mackenzie Young recorded a Zone-qualifying score on platform with a finals mark of 239.20.
- Katherine Lim earned a Zone-qualifying score on 3-meter with a 289.95 performance.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Aggies started the day with a strong runner-up finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay as MacKay, Valenta, Bellin, and Boegholm posted a 3:19.38.
- In the 1650 freestyle, Gingras led UC Davis with a top-three showing in 17:44.05.
- UC Davis stacked points in the 100 free with Boegholm (4th), Valenta (5th), and MacKay (6th).
- Childers added a podium finish in the 200 butterfly, placing third in the A final.
- Scheberies (7th), Graham (12th), and Palmer (13th) contributed in the 200 backstroke.
- In diving, UC Davis posted two NCAA Zone-qualifying performances: Young's 239.20 on platform and Lim's 289.95 on 3-meter, marking standout finishes to close the invitational.
- Additional depth came from Ackerman (9th) and Klimauskas (14th) in the 200 butterfly.
