The short story: In their first home game of the 2025 season, UC Davis volleyball came out hot in a three-set sweep over the Cal State Fullerton Titans. Tonight's victory marks the fourth straight for the team, who begins conference play 3-0.

FIRST SERVE
  • A 20-kill night from Jade Light marks the third time the senior attacker has reached 20+ kills this season.
  • Ally Chandler also reached double-digit kills with 12 in the match. She also led the team in total blocks with six.
  • Coming off of her first Big West Player of the Week honor, Ximena Cordero Barr reached 20 digs for the first time in a match this season. Also matching her career-high in the category.
  • Mia Starr was the key distributor for the team once again, putting up 38 assists.
  • Offensively, the team was efficient all night long, leading to a season-high .376 hitting percentage.
  • The conference-best defense from the Aggies continued to impress, holding Cal State Fullerton to a -.012 hitting percentage on the night. This marks the first time this season UC Davis has held a team to a negative hitting percentage throughout an entire match.
WHAT HEAD COACH DAN CONNERS HAD TO SAY

"It was a bit of a rollercoaster; we played incredibly in the first and third sets, while we made a ton of errors in the second. But it was good resilience to pull out the second and play great in the third. Proud of our team!"

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After seeing the Titans get the first point, Light got the first three kills of the match to jump the Aggies out to an early 7-3 lead.
  • As their opponent looked to gather momentum, Davis used kills from Brooke Hibino, Faith Rabb-Patterson, and Allie Caldwell on their way to a 17-8 advantage halfway through set one.
  • A 5-0 run led by the service of Light put the team on the verge of victory, before kills from Light and Hibino wrapped up a 25-12 win and a 1-0 lead.
  • UC Davis started strong once again in the second, using an early 6-0 run to power themselves to a 10-7 lead.
  • Adjustments from Fullerton kept them in the set, trailing by only three at the halfway point, 11-14.
  • Service from Rachel Dunagan helped the Aggies to a 4-0 and 3-0 run and an eight-point 21-13 lead.
  • But the Titans refused to back down, scoring seven of ten to hit the 20-point mark and find themselves down 20-24.
  • A kill from Chandler ended the rally, giving Davis a 25-20 set win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
  • After an error from their opponent gave the Aggies a 4-3 lead to start the second, Haden Bones served up a 7-0 run for her team.
  • Following a point from Fullerton, Light would then go on the serve, pushing the lead all the way to 20-5 in favor of the home team.
  • The Titans would string together a few kills, but a kill from Light would end off a dominant 25-8 win for the Aggies, securing them their fourth sweep in seven wins this season.
UP NEXT: UC Davis wraps up the weekend when they play host to UC Irvine on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 1:00 p.m. PT. The match will feature the debut of the teams Lake Tahoe-inspired Aqua Blue jerseys, and fans can watch live on ESPN+.
