HOW IT HAPPENED
- Davidson capitalized early, scoring off a penalty corner less than two minutes into the match to take a 1-0 lead. UC Davis looked to answer late in the quarter when Karly Redman had a shot blocked by the Wildcat defense.
- The Aggies found their rhythm in the second quarter, earning a penalty corner at the 21:50 mark that led to a quality look from Hayden Ma, but her shot was saved by Davidson's goalkeeper. Heal and the Aggie defense turned away multiple corner chances on the other end to keep it a one-goal game at halftime.
- Both teams tightened up defensively in the third quarter, trading possessions and penalty cards while UC Davis limited Davidson's scoring opportunities. Heal came up with another key save to keep the deficit within one.
- In the final frame, the Aggies generated two solid chances to tie it. Ella Franken's shot off a penalty corner in the 49th minute and Morgan Caldera's attempt in the 51st were both stopped by Davidson's keeper. Collingwood, who entered late, made a save to hold the score at 1-0, but UC Davis couldn't convert in the closing minutes.
