The short story: On day one, Vidyuth Anand and Nadaul Cheam advance to the next round of singles at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships.

COURTSIDE 
·      Freshman Nadaul Cheam advances to the round of 16 after a pair of two set match wins.
·      Freshman Nadaul Cheam advanced to the round of 32 but fell in his second match.
·      Rithvik Katpelly fell in the round of 64.

HOW IT HAPPENED
·      In the morning Nadaul Cheam took on Joseph Lyon from Saint Mary's and won his match 6-1, 6-1.
·      Cheam went on to [lay his second match of the day against Portland's Tannor Binder and won 6-4, 7-5 to move into the round of 16.
·      Freshman Anand battled with Sac State's Adryn Ballestero and won his match 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (9-7).
·      He then went on to play a second opponent, Portland's Cade Fernando, where he fell in two sets 6-0, 6-4.
·      Rithvik Katpelly was given a BYE for his morning match. His second match was against Gonzaga's Gus Krauel where he fell 6-3, 3-6, 2-6 to end his singles run for the tournament.
·      Doubles begin on day two of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships.
