DAVIS, Calif. – The Ags pulled out a win in Reining against Texas A&M with a score of 3-1, with several riders tying for points. Despite strong individual performances they fell short in their 2025 seasonal opener, finishing with a final score of 11-5 in favor of Texas A&M.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Aggies tied two scores with Texas A&M in the Fences competition, with Sabine Close and Anna Donovan earning draws of 82 and 83. Freshman Lily Grosz added to the high scores, earning her and Glennis an 82. Junior Lauren Kolbe closed the event while taking the highest score, only being a point behind with an 84 on Otis.
In the western arena sophomore Eliza Plum picked up a win in Horsemanship scoring 71.5 aboard Shylo. Junior Kylie Jacobson posted the highest score in the event with a 73 on Penny, narrowly missing the win.
The Ags dominated in Reining, scoring three straight points to close out the meet. Senior Mya Clader earned a point on Camacho followed by junior Mylea Trimble on Vinny. Senior Nicole Shroyer secured the final point with a 3-1 final, earning a score of 74 on GT and the highest score of the event, all while lassoing herself the MOP. Sophomore Ada Hirschfeld added a tie on Belle.
Sophomore Sophia Blake posted the highest score in Flat with an 82 on Courtage, earning a point for the team and the MOP award. Kolbe notched another tie with 77 on Cassie. The Aggies fell just one point short in the Western equitation, finishing with a 5-4 score in that discipline.
UP NEXT: The Ags will be back on our home turf tomorrow Saturday, Oct. 11, at 8:30 a.m. PT to face South Dakota State.
