DAVIS, Calif. – Selected as the NCEA Meet of the Week, the Aggies kick off the 2025 leg of their season with a triumphant win against Delaware State, dominating with a final score of 15-5 and three MOPs on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Aggies had an electric start, both Fences and Horsemanship going 4-1 to power the first half of the meet versus the Hornets.
Freshman
Eliza Plum led the charge in the western arena in Horsemanship, taking the stellar top score of 74.5 atop Bella. Sophomore Laura Holliday followed close behind with a 74 on Spookadee, and senior
Natasha Replogle captured the third highest score of 73.5. Junior
Katya Dundas and Mr. T secured the final Aggie point, closing out the 4-1 win.
The equitation over the Fences was some of the best of the season, every scoring Aggie competitor tallied above 80 points in their performances. Senior
Emma Jolly headlined the Fences with Kullen, scoring a meet-high 87. Freshman
Sabine Close scored an 86 with Calida, senior
Jessie Rechs and Bear totaled up an 85 and the MOP award for her performance over the Fences, and sophomore
Lauren Kolbe rounded it out with an 83 riding Tony for the second 4-1 victory of the morning, also grabbing the MOP award while she was at it.
In the second half of the meet, Jumping Seat continued their flame with a second 4-1 final score on the Flat. Grad student
Margaret Franke led the charge, scoring a stunning 85 atop Courtage, with a 16 point difference between her and the Hornet competitor. Right behind her was sophomore
Lauren Kolbe and Stallone with an 84, a 49-point gap between the Delaware State rider and Kolbe. Senior
Marin Gilliland and freshman
Anna Donovan also added Aggie points to the scoreboard, sweeping the Hornets 8-2 in the overall Jumping Seat equitation.
Junior
Nicole Shroyer took the highest score of the day, an outstanding 72 while riding Belle to beat out her opponent by two points and capturing the MOP. Senior
Emma Dillon and Fireball won against her opponent by 4.5 points, and sophomore
Mylea Trimble and MayZ also contributed to the 3-2 final in Reining.
