The short story: After dropping the doubles point, UC Davis men's tennis mounted a determined comeback to defeat Montana State 4-3, securing their first win of the season in a thrilling, hard-fought battle.

COURTSIDE 

• Montana State took the early lead grabbing the doubles point. 

• Senior Sam De Vries defeated his Bobcat opponent in two sets. 

• Junior Lucas Bollinger defeated his Bobcat opponent in two sets. 

• Freshman Perry Digiulio and Rithvik Katpelly both went to three sets to defeat their opponents. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Aggies opened the morning with doubles. Kaveh Taheri and Lucas Bollinger finished first, securing a quick doubles win for the team. 

• Next to finish in doubles were Ryan Torres and Ivan Savkin, who were unable to fend off their Bobcat opponents and dropped their doubles match. 

• Last to finish in doubles was pair Eduardo Gonzalez and Sam De Vries who fought hard but were unfortunately unable to win the match. 

• On to singles, Aggies Torres and Taheri dropped early in singles losing their matches in t 

• Bollinger was the next to finish and fought hard through a tie-breaker to take down his Bobcat opponent. 

• Down 3-1 the Aggies needed wins in all following singles matches. The first to complete this task was freshman Katpelly who went to three sets before he ultimately won the match. 

• Senior De Vries followed beating his opponent in just two sets. 

• With the winning match on the line, the atmosphere was electric waiting for Gigiulio's match to conclude. The freshman fought hard through three sets ultimately winning his match against his Bobcat opponent and putting the team up 4-3 to win.
