The short story: Two Aggie goals and a shutout performance by sophomore Emma Giesting gave UC Davis field hockey its second straight win of the season. 

PITCH SIDE 

• Senior Caroline Stutte and Senior Skylar Richards both recorded their first goals of the season

• Giesting recorded nine total saves en route to the shutout  

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Kent State started off strong by forcing two penalty corners in the first two minutes of play

• Giesting was up to the task, making four saves  in the first five minutes of the game

• UC Davis gained its momentum when Stutte scored a goal 22nd minute to open the game's scoring

• The Aggies extended their lead to 2-0 with a goal by Richards late in the third quarter 

• Kent State would try to respond with two back to back shots in the 45th minute but would be denied by the UC Davis defense 

• Kent State continued to attempt to get back into the game, pulling goalie Allison Wood in the final minutes, but UC Davis was up to the task as the Aggies held back Kent State to lock up the 2-0 victory
