Caeley Goldstein tied her career-high with nine saves, but a late surge by Santa Clara allowed the Broncos to escape Davis with a 2-0 victory on Sunday afternoon at Aggie Soccer Field.

- Goldstein and the UC Davis backline put forth a valiant defensive effort, holding Santa Clara scoreless for approximately 80 minutes
- Senior Bella Mayo played an instrumental role in UC Davis' defense, making numerous timely tackles to help limit the Broncos' attack, which totaled 21 shots
- Offensively, UC Davis had multiple good looks from Sarah Canavan, Sam Tristan, Abella Hunter, and Devyn Simmons
- For Santa Clara, Sally Menti and Marissa Vasquez were the difference-makers, each scoring in the final 10 minutes of action
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first 45 minutes, UC Davis was the aggressor, leading the halftime shot margin 7-5
- The Aggies had a look at goal in the 14th minute from Canavan and another from sophomore Savannah Cordero in the 41st, but both were stopped by Santa Clara's Marlee Nicolos
- The Broncos had a chance just as time expired in the half but were unable to get the shot off in time, sending the game into halftime scoreless at 0-0
- Santa Clara broke the deadlock in the 81st minute, with Menti converting a penalty kick to make it 1-0
- Vasquez added to the lead shortly after, finding the back of the net in the 83rd minute
- The Aggies continued to press in the final seven minutes, but the Broncos maintained the clean sheet to secure the 2-0 win
