The short story: Despite falling to Cal State Bakersfield 3-2, an emotional Senior Day served as the focal point Saturday afternoon at Dobbins Stadium as the program highlighted the careers of Jack Gallagher, Kaden Hogan, Theo Forshey, Nick Iverson, Damian Stone, Kaden Riccomini, Ian Torpey, and Andrew LaCour as all eight Aggies appeared in today's game.
LEADING OFF
- Ryan Lee led the Aggies at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a run scored
- Forshey, delivered a double in his final at-bat in an Aggie uniform
- On the mound, Noel Valdez gave UC Davis another quality start despite taking the loss, going 6.0 innings allowing just three runs
- After Valdez, the senior trio of Torpey, Riccomini and LaCour combined to tossed 3.0 innings of scoreless baseball
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cal State Bakersfield initiated the scoring in the third, with centerfielder Kyler Stancato driving in a run with a two-out double
- The Roadrunners continued their scoring in the fourth, grabbing a pair of runs, making it 3-0 with a double from first baseman Jacob Gutierrez, and a sacrifice fly from Kanoa Morisaki
- The Aggies tried to rally back, scoring in the fifth with Iverson's single bringing home Alex Gouveia to cut the lead for the Roadrunners to just 3-1
- Gouveia would make things interesting in the ninth making it 3-2 in the ninth, scoring Lee with a sacrifice fly
- The Aggies had one more chance with a runner in scoring position to tie it but Kellen O'Connor would close out the complete game to salvage the series for the Roadrunners

- Tommy Nicholson in just his third season at the helm, secured the third ever winning record in UC Davis' Division I era
- The winning season of 29-27 also gives UC Davis their first season above .500 since 2015
