The short story: The Aggies out-hit the Mustangs in the ballgame and tried to rally back late, but it was too late as an early seven runs from Cal Poly proved too much to come back from for a UC Davis squad that left 12 men on base throughout.

- Leehey and Murphy each added doubles for UC Davis, along with Jason Hanson who hit a pinch-hit double in the eighth

- Steven Brooks, an Elk Grove local, led the Mustangs pitching staff, throwing 6.0 innings of two-run ball
