LEADING OFF
- Ryan Lee drove in UC Davis' lone run in the game, finishing 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI
- Nick Leehey put together some of the most competitive at-bats on the day for the Aggies, drawing two walks and coming across as the long Aggie to score
- Noel Valdez delivered a quality start as he threw 6.0 innings, striking out five Gauchos while allowing three runs
- UC Santa Barbara used the long ball again in the finale to score runs, as three different Gauchos hit home runs
- Tyler Bremner and Cole Tryba combined for 11 strikeouts and limited the Aggies to one run
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UC Davis drew two key walks which allowed Ryan Lee the opportunity to make Gauchos pay, delivering a run-scoring double to start the scoring in the bottom of the first
- The Gauchos would respond in the third with Aaron Parker leaving the yard with a two-run home run to bring the score to 2-1
- Valdez would go unscathed until the sixth which is when Ivan Brethowr blasted the second Gaucho homer of the day, bringing their lead to 3-1
- The Gauchos avoided danger in the bottom of the sixth, as the Aggies got runners on second and third with less than two outs, but ran into some unfortunate luck with Alex Gouveia lining out to the first baseman, killing all momentum offensively for the Aggies
- UC Santa Barbara would get their final insurance run of the game in the seventh as Justin Trimble slammed one out to the deepest part of the field to bring the score to 4-1
- UC Santa Barbara would lean on Tryba to close things out, as the lefty retired all nine batters he faced over the last three innings to secure the sweep
