The short story: UC Davis battled to the final out, but UC San Diego was available to avoid the sweep by walking it off in the bottom of the seventh to earn the 3-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.
LEADING OFF
- The Aggies got an excellent performance from Brown in the circle, tossing six innings and allowing just two earned runs. The senior was tagged with the tough luck loss despite her solid outing, falling to 7-13 on the year.
- Anna Dethlefson drove in a couple runs in her 1-for-4 performance.
- Dethlefson drove in two runs for UC Davis with a single, that scored sophomore Mickey Buscemi and Sydney Polli.
- Leah Polson, Sarah Nakahara, and Sarah Starks were the other Aggies to record a hit in the contest.
- Sarah Starks put together a standout performance as well, going 1-for-3 with a double.
- UCSD was led offensively by junior Morgan Eng, who went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.
- India Caldwell led the Tritons pitching staff, throwing seven innings of two-run ball.
THE RUNDOWN
- Both teams battled for four scoreless frames until the Tritons finally broke the deadlock in the bottom of the fifth, taking the lead on Hailey Mulligan's RBI single.
- Anna Dethlefson came up with the biggest swing of the day for UC Davis, driving in two runs with her two-RBI single in the top of the seventh.
- UC San Diego snatched the win when Morgan Eng reached on an error. The winning run would come across on the play, allowing the Tritons to grab the 3-2 win.
