The short story: UC Davis' bats were stymied for the second consecutive day as Abilene Christian's Iain Campa and Rolando De La Cruz combined to allow just three hits and two runs as the Wildcats claimed the 12-2 win in seven innings.
LEADING OFF
- Alex Gouveia went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI
- Damian Stone provided the other UC Davis RBI, as he was 1-for-3 with a stolen base from the leadoff spot
- Ryan Lee delivered the other Aggie hit on the day, collecting a double in the third inning as him and Gouveia provided both extra-base-hits for the Aggies
- Abilene Christian's Gino D'Alessio highlighted a lineup which collected 17 hits on the day by going 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI
- Iain Campa started for the Wildcats, throwing 5.0 innings of two-run ball to secure the win
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Abilene Christian continued their momentum from yesterday, delivering back-to-back three run innings in the first and second to take an early 6-0 lead
- The Aggies quickly responded with a pair of runs in the third to make it 6-2
- Stone drove in Lee with a single to right field to give UC Davis their first runs of the day
- Gouveia doubled the following at-bat and scored Stone
- The Wildcats would go on to score runs in three of the next four innings and take a commanding 12-2 lead into the seventh
- In the seventh, UC Davis got the leadoff runner on with a walk, but that was all they could put together as Abilene Christian would hold on to secure the series victory.
