SEASIDE, Calif. — The UC Davis women's water polo team dispatched the CSU Monterey Bay Otters with ease on Wednesday afternoon, picking up their eighth win of the season, 20-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Gianna Nocetti got the Aggies started, putting away a five-meter penalty shot two minutes into the contest. The UC Davis got rolling from there, scoring five more times to take a 6-0 lead into the quarter break. Nocetti scored again, followed by goals from
Bridget Miller,
Chelsea Johnson,
Liberty Massman and
Sam Yoo.
Nellie McAdams and the Aggie defense shut out the Otters for a second straight quarter, extending the lead to 11-0 at halftime. Miller scored her second goal, while
Maddie Sumner,
Ally Smith,
Kelly Hungerford and Ali Giusti, who scored twice, all found the back of the net.
The Otters came out of the half strong, notching two of the first three scores in the third quarter. The Aggies settled back in though, finishing the half on a 3-0 run. Johnson scored her second of the way, while
Sadie Henry and
Ashley Wallin tallied their first.
UC Davis outscored Monterey Bay 4-2 in the final period, With Johnson, Massman and Giusti completing hat tricks.
Johnson dished out two assists in addition to her three goals, and Hungerford and
Ryan Sund had two assists as well. Hungerford and Yoo combined for seven steals, while the McAdams-Holland goalie duo made six saves.

The Aggies return to action on Friday, Apr. 5 against Long Beach State. The opening sprint is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
