INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. —
Keanna Abraham and
Megan Ray have been selected as individual event specialists for the NCAA California Regional Championship. Ray was selected to compete on vault, as well as Abraham who was also chosen for floor. The competition will take place April 4-7 hosted by Cal Berkeley.
The Aggies are coming off a second-place finish at the MPSF Championship where they secured their second highest score of the season. Setting new program records including the sixth highest team score on vault, tying for the second highest team score on bars, and tying for the fourth highest team score on beam.
Keanna Abraham finished the meet as the MPSF Floor Champion scoring a 9.925, tying her season high score. The third year had an impressive performance all around at the championship. She placed in the top 5 for every event she competed on. Abraham tied for fifth on beam and tied for third on vault alongside her teammates with an 9.875.
Megan Ray also had a standout weekend at the conference championship. The native of Irvine scored in the top 4 of her two events of the meet. Ray tied for third on vault with a 9.875. She also competed well on floor tying for fourth with a score of 9.850.
The two Ags will travel to Berkeley, where regional competition is set to begin Wednesday, April 4, and continue through national selections on Monday, April 8, leading up to the national championship from Thursday, April 18 to Saturday, April 20
. The top all-around competitor and top event specialist from round two at each regional (who is not on a team advancing to nationals) will advance to the national championships. Event specialist qualifiers will only compete in the events they qualified.
The national championships will take place April 18-20 in Fort Worth, Texas, at Dickies Arena. The championship event is hosted by Texas Woman's University and Knight Eady. For tickets and information regarding the National Collegiate Women's Gymnastics Championships, go to
