Aggies Set to Begin ECAC Title Defense Against Hornets

RANCHO MURIETA, Calif. — The second-seeded UC Davis equestrian team kicks off their ECAC title defense on Tuesday, Mar. 26 against the third seed Delaware State Hornets at 11:00 a.m.

The Aggies (4-6, 3-1 ECAC) defeated Delaware State, 11-5, when the two sides met in a neutral site competition in early February. Maddie Gregory and Macey Newkirk picked up MOPs as UC Davis rode to victory behind a dominant performance in Western.

The Aggies enter the semifinal showdown having gone 2-3 in their spring season, with wins over Delaware State and Baylor, a 10-8 loss to UT Martin, and two losses via tiebreaker to Fresno State and Oklahoma State.

HISTORY
UC Davis has won three of seven all-time matchups against Delaware State. In addition to the win in February, the Aggies defeated Delaware State in last year's ECAC semifinal meet, 10-8. Tasia Anstead, Natasha Replogle and Amber Nusser won MOPs in the meet. Delaware State's last win against UC Davis was in November 2022, when the Hornets won via tiebreaker with a 7-7 final score.

2024 ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS INFO
UT Martin enters the 2023 Championship as the top seeded team. Fourth seed South Dakota State defeated fifth seed Minnesota Crookston in a Monday first round meet to advance to face UT Martin in the semifinal round.

Second seed UC Davis and third seed Delaware State will face off in the other semifinal meet. The winners of each semifinal will compete for the ECAC championship on Wednesday, Mar. 27.
