DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis struggled offensively and Cal State Fullerton took advantage, earning the 9-0 run rule victory to win the series in Saturday's finale at La Rue Field.
Kenedi Brown (4-6) started and took the loss in the circle for UC Davis (10-12, 1-2 Big West) after allowing five earned runs in over 3.1 innings of work. Defensive mishaps proved to be costly for Davis' team, committing three errors on the day. This resulted in a six-run fourth inning for Cal State Fullerton, putting the game out of reach for the Aggies.
Libbie McMahan had the lone hit of the ballgame for the Aggies, breaking up the no-hitter in the bottom of the fifth with her single down the left-field line.
GAME NOTES
» UC Davis pitchers faced 25 Cal State Fullerton hitters in the game, allowing five ground balls and five fly balls while striking out four.
» Starks led the Aggies at the plate, going 0-for-0.
» The Titans were led offensively by senior Jessi Alcala, who went 1-for-2 with a double and three RBI.
» Rainey led the Titans pitching staff, throwing five shutout innings.
UP NEXT
The Ags will head to Long Beach State next weekend to continue Big West play with another three-game set. The first game will take place on Mar. 23 with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.
