UC Davis Drop Series Opener to No. 22 UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. -- UC Davis battled one of the nation's top teams in a classic Friday night pitchers' duel, but the No. 22 UC Irvine Anteaters walked it off in the bottom of the ninth to take the first game of Big West Conference action.

Despite taking the no-decision, Bryan Green enjoyed his best start of the season. The junior tossed seven scoreless innings while surrendering just two hits before handing the ball off in the eighth. 

Riley Acosta enjoyed a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-4 to bring his batting average to .366 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UC Davis did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Aggies went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the ninth, when Mark Wolbert made it into scoring position with two outs.

GAME NOTES
» Green put together seven innings of scoreless ball for UC Davis.
» UC Davis pitchers faced 32 UC Irvine hitters in the game, allowing eight ground balls and nine fly balls while striking out six.
» Acosta led the Aggies at the plate, going 2-for-4.
