DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis equestrian team picked up a win over the Baylor Bears for the first time in program history on a rainy Saturday at the UC Davis Equestrian Center. A dominant 4-0 showing in Fences helped propel the home team to victory.

The Aggies (4-4, 3-1) maintained their advantage throughout the entirety of the meet as the visiting Bears gradually brought themselves back in competition with strong showings on the Flat and in Reining.

Jessie Rechs led the Aggies' Flat efforts, earning MOP with a score of 81 on Calida. Tasia Anstead, Lauren Kolbe and Emma Jolly earned points, while Carly Sweeney tied her opponent to ensure the UC Davis shutout in the first event.

Baylor turned the meet around in Flat, picking up four points and an MOP. Marin Gilliland scored a crucial point for the Aggies with a score of 73 on Stakky.

Both sides split the western disciplines, with UC Davis winning Horsemanship 3-2 and Baylor winning Reining 3-2. 

Maddie Gregory, Marcella Bee and Natasha Replogle were point earners for UC Davis, scoring 72, 74 and 75 respectively. 

Macey Newkirk earned the Reining MOP with a score of 69.5 on Cruiser, while Lauren Langbaum contributed the other point for the Aggies.

UC Davis is back in the saddle next weekend in Fresno State. The Aggies will take on the Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m.
