DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis Aggies took another win at home this afternoon at Marya Welch Tennis courts versus Santa Clara University, dominating 6-1 over the Broncos.
The afternoon began with the Aggies sweeping doubles taking home wins at all three courts.
Arianna Stavropoulos and
Kaia Wolfe dominated at court 1 over Saint Mary's duo,
JennaMarie Gordon and Velizara Fileva, taking home a win 6-3. The dynamic sister duo,
Daisy Maunupau and
Olive Maunupau also left little room for error beating out the Bronco competition 6-2 against Finley Kalinic and Varya Zlotnik. Finally,
Carly Schwartzberg and
Michelle Zell sealed the deal for the Ags, 6-4 making that a full sweep of doubles for UC Davis.
The Aggies continued to bring the energy into singles play and nearly took it all. Stavropoulos won in straight sets against JennaMarie Gordon of Santa Clara 6-2, 6-0.
Mika Ikemori followed suit beating out her competition 6-1, 6-3. Both
Michelle Zell and O. Maunupau played a 10-point tiebreaker for their third set sending the score sky high but ultimately taking home the point for the Aggies.
Carly Schwartzberg rounded out the competition at court 6 in another straight set victory, defeating Maria Antonova 6-0, 6-3.
Kaia Wolfe's match was incomplete due to injury.
UC Davis will continue their weekend at home on Sunday Feb. 18 versus conference competitors UC Irvine.
